
A joint initiative of Central for Rural Service Society (CRSS) and World Vision Bangladesh distributed food items to 300 poor families affected by Cyclone Remel in Harta, Satla and Shikarpur Unions along with Wazirpur Upazila Municipality on June 2, 2024. The distribution ceremony was attended by Edward Robin Ballov, Founder and Executive Director of CRSS, Sylvia Daisy (AP Manager, World Vision Bangladesh), Rigby Setu Gomez (Assistant Coordinator, CRSS), Sujit Halder (Program Manager, CRSS-CESP) and others. UP members of self-unions and members of the Village Development Committee (VDC). Union Parishad members present at the distribution ceremony said, “CRSS and World Vision Bangladesh have always been playing a leading role in improving the quality of life of the underprivileged as a supporting force of the government”.
AP Manager Sylvia Daisy told the audience that World Vision Bangladesh has been working for the socio-economic development of the poor people of Bangladesh since independence. We are happy to stand by you in this difficult post-disaster situation.”
Edward Robin Bollove, executive director of CRSS, said in his speech – “Disaster risk mitigation and climate change adaptation is one of the development activities that CRSS conducts with the support of World Vision Bangladesh in Wazirpur Upazila. CRSS staffs, volunteers and facilitators have worked tirelessly for the needy people of the area during the disaster and even before and after the disaster. Even if our food items benefit your family members, especially children, even in the slightest, we will consider our efforts successful.”
The food distribution points were equipped with clean drinking water, a complaint-suggestion-opinion box, a list of distributed food items, a service quality rating chart (mood meter) and a children’s corner. It is to be noted that 81 supporting officers of CRSS and the village development committee led by the upazila administration have been praised for reaching safe shelters and conducting awareness activities for the people who are at risk of disaster as a pre-preparation for Cyclone Remel.
