The objective of the event: Theme: “Youth-Led Climate Action-Challenges and Solutions”

Major Focus: CRSS & WVB’s initiatives include Eco-Friendly Villages, GESI-friendly Schools, Urban air pollution, 3-R for plastic use, Climate-smart Agriculture, and other works that CRSS is doing. In addition, you can think about what other organizations including Govt. are doing at the local and national level.

Background:

Wazirpur AP has delightfully arranged the Annual Youth Assembly 2024 with the “Youth-Led Climate Action-Challenge and Solutions” theme on 08th June 2024. The program was inaugurated and presided over by the UNO of Wazirpur Upazila. As special guests, there were the PIO, Upazila Youth Development Officer, Executive Director of CRSS, Edward Robin Bollove, and media personnel present. A total of 64 youth out of 110 have participated there.

Rational:

  • Increasing the interactive relation with the government stakeholders to the youth
  • Awareness of climate change issues and encouragement to plant trees as much as possible

Event Description:

The program started with a greetings dance by the youth. After welcoming of guests, UNO-Wazirpur Pourashava delivered his greetings speech and inaugurated the program. After the greetings speech, Wazirpur AP staff shared the program’s purpose.

Prodip Mondol-president of Wazirpur Child Forum shared his experience of the “My Life, My Vision” book and all guests visited Wall of Dream and observed the books of participants. Silvia Daisy, Wazirpur Area Program has given a presentation on Climate Change, adaptation, mitigation, and initiatives. After that Upazila Youth Development Officer gives a speech from a special guest on solutions, roles of children and youth, guidance, plans of the local govt. & other organizations. Upazila Vice Chairman (both male and female), Executive Director at CRSS, and other special guests have delivered their speeches on innovative ideas and school activities on climate change. Lastly, an honorable UNO gives a motivational speech on How to reach your goal/dream.

Impact:

Encourage and engage youth to take the lead role against climate issues in BangladeshEducate, unite, and sensitize youth to be the champion of climate change risk mitigation initiatives at all levels Enable and inspire youth to take realistic action against climate change issues at local, and national and global level

Lesson Learn: Every person has talent and it’s need an opportunity to show it.

Action plan: “See a dream to make nature green.”

Conclusion:

Everybody has promised to save our planet by tree plantation, waste management, and being a good human being as well. All of the youth have declared their call of action- “See a dream to make nature green.” They had created opportunities for youth to talk about climate change issues and their innovative ideas.
